And by a day I mean twelve hours.  I was lucky enough to get the chance to finally visit Jackson and the stunning Tetons this past weekend, and I instantly fell in love.  I loved how the town was surrounded by the most gorgeous backdrops and chalked full of good ol’ Wyoming history.

One thing about sight seeing a new town within 12 hours, is you basically are going to be on your feet from start to finish.  And you will feel like one of the world’s greatest balancing act.  I was determined to shop and eat my way through the downtown area of Jackson, AND get a fun, scenic hike in. Luckily, I got all of it done.. though I feel like I should have visited more restaurants.

Before we started our hike we kicked it off with a little tour of downtown Jackson it’s just so… western. The sidewalks are all wood planks and little hints of rustic elegance pops out everywhere. But by far my absolute favorite place to go – Persphenne Bakery. It’s divine. The decor, the food, the drinks – ALL of it. It’s filled with cinnamon rolls and fresh bread, along with marble white table tops surrounded by gorgeous florals. Honestly, I was close to just calling it good in there and camping out the rest of the day.

Once I was finally drug out of the bakery (meh so pretty!), we headed towards the mountains for hike around Taggartt Lake. 

First off – there is no way you can get the shock value of the Tetons in one photo. Like I got close… but nope. They are too big and too beautiful for a simple snap shot.

Second – We almost ran into (quite literally into) a momma moose and her baby! I got one super blurry photo because I was so scared. You know those news reports about tourists dying trying to take photos of the wildlife? Yah, I was convinced I was going to be one of them.

Taggart Lake trail is a super easy two hour trail with a crystal clear lake in the middle of the loop. I felt like such a “trail diva” with my cute clothes on, but I wanted cute photos of the Tetons with me not dressed in a ball cap and my baggy rain jacket. Every outdoor enthusiast we met on the trail eyed my tall boots… but it was worth it with these fun photos that I snagged.

To round out the Jackson experience, we made it back into town at a delicious and unique wine bar called Bin 22. It’s actually a super affordable restaurant for Jackson and I swooned over all their wine selections. (And different cheeses!)

Oh, I thought I would also mention that staying in Airbnb can cut back on so much of your budget when traveling to Jackson.  Staying in a luxe hotel would certainly make  the trip even more lovely, but if it’s not in your budget, Airbnb’s around Jackson are pretty spiffy too.
