The cold weather has finally arrived. Being down in Texas the majority of last week allowed me to miss out on the first snow of the season and help put off the inevitable for just a bit more. (Sorry for the silence over just been soaking up all the traveling I can!) But I should have known the chance of me returning to gorgeous fall weather was slim to none.
I’m definitely a Summer girl stuck in the super cold world of Wyoming and while I just shared a couple of my favorite ways to combat our long winters last week, I forget to mention my most favorite way to battle the cold… warm recipes.
Hot drinks are the perfect way to carry a bit more warmth with you throughout the day and with the right products even for an entire day.
The Thermos® King bottle was sent to me last month and already I know it’s going to be a winter staple for me.
At first I was a bit put off by just how large it was. However, after an early morning with Katie snapping these photos, the amount of warm tea I was able to have on hand + it’s ability to retain heat made it easily worth it. My family has an annual Christmas tree cutting adventure coming up and the Thermos® will absolutely be tagging along because while I love our snowy traditions, I do not love freezing to death.
Savory Fall Cider Recipe
1 Orange
1/2 gallon apple cider (not juice)
6 whole cloves
5 whole allspice berries
1/4 teaspoon of baking spice*
8 Cinnamon Sticks
1/2 cup of Cranberries
1 -2 tablespoons honey
one. Zest the orange with a vegetable peeler to create long strips.
two. In a large pot, bring the cider, honey, orange zest, cranberries, and spices to a simmer. Heat for approximately 30 minutes, making sure the contents never boil.
three. Serve with a ladle and one cinnamon stick. (I added three to my thermos for the day!)
*Baking Spice is a bit of a “secret” ingredient of mine! I always use it in the place of cinnamon or nutmeg.
I know once the holidays are over I’ll be counting down the days til it gets warm again and jumping at the chance to fill my Thermos® with my favorite cold drinks. If you want a chance to win your own Thermos® you can enter here and make sure you stay warm this season too.

PS Thanks to my wonderfully talented friend Katie for a morning filled of light and photos.
