It’s hard to think just last Monday I was on the road with Megan headed to Jackson, Wyoming.  Few people have traveled to my home state of Wyoming (it’s a simple flyover state to many), but those that do make their way to our beautiful, albeit a bit of a barren place, are often blessed with truly stunning sights.  The Teton Mountain range is easily one of the most beautiful parts of our country and I’m always in awe every time I get to see them.

I was hoping to post this yesterday, but with an unplanned and a bit startling power outage in my home town I found myself making hot chocolate by a mixture of candlelight and cell phone lighting.  Still I figured these photos were a pre- Christmas necessity.

Megan and I drove into Jackson early afternoon on Tuesday and immediately rushed to The Rustic Inn to drop off our bags before playing in the snow.  I’ve mentioned it before and I’ll mention it again Megan is  c r a z y  talented when it comes to photography, so much so that a lovely British couple found her last year and booked her immediately for their small wintery wedding in Jackson.  (You can see all of her photos over on her blog – where I also help write some of her posts!)  And when her typical second shooter was unable to make it I got a quick text invite and the rest is history.

With an entire day left to exploring Jackson we actually ended up mainly exploring around the inn Tuesday afternoon.  We we had our own small cabin as our home for the few days and with the blizzard blowing in we were a touch obsessed with just how gorgeous it all was.

Finally, putting down our cameras for a bit, we wondered into downtown Jackson to explore a bit. I made sure that we made it to my other two favorite must see’s:

Persephone Bakery

Essentially my must see’s either revolve around food or around pretty spaces and Persephone Bakery nails both of those.  It’s the cutest little bakery dedicated to delicious food + drinks, as well as pretty feminine minimal decor.  Keep scrolling to see their cute spoon mural!

And Bin 22 is a beautiful restaurant/wine store that allows you to bring your favorite wine bottle to your table with no extra corkage fee… simply amazing.

A new place for me was the infamous Cowboy Bar!  Even as someone who rides horses regularly and owns them, I got a kick out of sitting at the bar  i n  a  s a d d l e  and drinking some whiskey.  I mean if you are in Wyoming you may as well play the part, right??

^^ Ya’ll… cute boots are not warm… a couple frozen toes, I learned my lesson and wore my trusted Sorel boots the rest of the trip.

I’m hoping this wintery travel post has you reaching for some hot cocoa and gives you a bit more Christmas cheer!  (In case you haven’t had enough of Christmas songs or endless amounts of eggnog yet.)   Jackson is one of those places that you always leave feeling like it was a once in a life time trip and I’ve already been looking up ways to head back with L in tow.
