Grapefruit Rosé Sangria

I’m really not much of a cocktail person.  My effort for some refreshing drinks typically ends at opening a bottle of wine or finding a good whiskey to sip on at the end of the day.  But there is something about summer that makes me want to try a little bit harder. Or maybe not give up as easily.

Plus, rosé and grapefruit are some of my two favorite things!

I always seem to have rosé on hand in the summers and after cutting my grapefruit in half the other day I couldn’t help but dream of the goodness of pink grapefruit rosé sangria.

Ingredients

1 grapefruit
1/2 cup of grapefruit juice
1 bottle of sparkling rosé or moscato
2 cups of strawberries
1 lime

** optional 2 tblsp of sugar or white grape juice

I will say I  l o v e  grapefruit and used a touch too much (read: the entire bottle) for my own mix so you might vary your amount based off your taste.  A subtle hint would be anything less than half a cup and a bit more punch would be anything above.

Once I’ve chopped up the fruit and add it to the juice, I make sure to gently stir and break up it all up.  By doing so you release some of the sugars into the juice and it will help with the tartness of the grapefruit.

Let sit for a couple hours, add your bubble-y a half hour before you want to serve it and ta-da! A refreshing summer sangria!

Needless to say I’ve already planned on making this grapefruit rosé sangria with my friend in Alabama this year! And to help with my laziness in the cocktail department I’ve already signed up for a class in Bozeman, MT right after we move up there next weekend.  Color me determined. 🙂

What do you love sipping on in the hot summer months?
