Neutral Lover’s Statement Pieces

DATE:

Jan 10, 2017

I’ve never really considered myself to be very fashionable.  I’m much more content saying I know my own style.  Simplicity and classic feminine lines have always dominated my closet.  Plus, for years “statement” pieces never seemed to be something my closet needed, as my go to uniform was jeans and an unique shirt.  But slowly I’ve realized statement pieces don’t have to be the same for everyone.   For some, statement pieces will be an extravagant coat or sequined shoes, while others can find something bold in a blush toned midi skirt or well worn pair of jeans.

And that’s just my type of statement.

Neutral Style Statements

The best statement pieces are those that you reach for on a daily basis like a flattering ribbed midi dress or vintage high waist and casual loose boyfriend jeans

And one piece that stays with me through any season has been a classic a-line skirt.  My go to lately has been this tan wool skirt from one of my favorite stores, but a button down mini, as well as, a striped mini skirt are just as flexible.

The amount of cozy grey knit sweaters my closet boasts is a bit embarrassing, but with Wyoming having notoriously long winters I let it slide.  Especially when I can find such good budget buys from H&M!

For day to day I like to keep it  r e a l l y  simple in the accessory and shoe departments.

Simple leopard print flats always spruce up any outfit and, in my eye, leopard print is possibly the best neutral.  With accessories I like to have them be “smart” or really just multi-functional.  This knitted vest-scarf-top (again Shopruche!) has been on repeat a bit much with all of our cold weather, plus it easily switches from vest to scarf.  And I can’t stop raving about my Fossil Q watch! While most smart watches are hard to fit into my wardrobe, their classic timepiece + smart watch capabilities built into one is everything I could ask for.

With 2017 I’m determined to have intention and one of those ways is being smart about what I buy! That’s why I’m really excited to partner up with Jimani’s Collection, as they support women and offer unique + high quality jewelry pieces. (Blog post coming soon to you!)

Don’t be fooled into thinking that neutral’s mean you have to always be a plain.  Paired and chosen correctly, neutral statements can have the biggest effect on your style.
