This past weekend we got to check off a big bucket list trip – Glamping! I remember when this concept first came around because, truthfully, I’m not the best camper out there. I certainly don’t mind roughing it (I slept on the very hard ground in Honduras for about a week) but if given the option I love my amenities. So when Hillary invited us with her family for some photos it worked out perfectly. I got to check something off my wish list and the boyfriend got to scoff at the flushing toilet in our tent. A night Under Canvas Yellowstone felt much more like a glamorous staycation than anything else, considering we are only a few hours from the park.
Our Stargazer tent was a spacious canvas tent with a clear plexiglass ceiling above our bed and wood stove to help battle the chilly night. Unfortunately, we had mostly thunderstorms for our trip, so we only saw maaaaybe 5 minutes of stars at night. But even those few minutes felt eerily beautiful.
For meals the ranch next door served delicious steaks for dinner. And while I was hoping for a bit more fruit at the breakfast, the waffle suited me just fine.
When we weren’t eating or snapping photos, L and I found a couple quiet minutes to spend in the hammock by the river and a few rounds of horse shoes. There was even a nightly bonfire that was complete with complimentary s’mores. One of my favorite things about the glamping site (aside from the quiet and unbelievable decks) was the fact that they are dog friendly! We were able to bring Zeus along with us and I’m not sure who I took more photos of – Zeus or Hillary!
Hillary and I were up early getting photos in the morning and you can tell below just how beautiful her style is. I always tell her she makes photos way too easy!
After stomping around in the soggy river bottom, we both agreed every Montana girl needs a pair of these boots. They are virtually water proof. I even trekked out into the soggy marsh at night to snap a photo and came back with completely dry feet.
You can check out Hillary’s beautiful blog and all of the photos from our Under Canvas Yellowstone trip.
Our simple weekend getaway went by all too fast and soon we were all saying goodbye over our breakfast.
But our quick stay at Under Canvas Yellowstone reminded us of how much we love the quiet. And how much our lives have gotten away from it. We even scheduled out a few weekends to enjoy Montana with a few camping trips.
