It’s in the details. Or that’s the saying anyways! It’s not a huge secret around here that I preferred remodeling a house over building one. There’s something about lived-in details that always feel cozier than new. Luckily, with the help of a few great vendors you can find hardware that looks as though it was there long before you lived in your home.

When picking out hardware I try to keep things balanced. I tend to feel like ornate details do best when they contrasted by simpler designs. Sometimes too much of a good things really is too much! For instance, our decorative antique gold light switches really shines against our board and batten wainscoting. The ‘Egg and Dart’ border of the light switch is a subtle detail that adds a few curves to an otherwise streamlined wall treatment.
While I did end up searching for quite a few weeks trying to find the ‘just-right’ vintage gold cabinet hardware for our kitchen, it’s actually these Ornate Pocket Door Pulls I’m most proud of sourcing. The black and gold pattern adds just the right amount details that complements our matte black door knobs.
